A special Town Meeting was called by petition in February 2022 to consider proposals to elect town officers and vote on the town budget by Australian ballot, replacing Town Meeting. The proposals did not pass. A resolution was approved asking the Select Board to appoint a committee to study Town Meeting and get voters’ input, and the Select Board did so. The committee held several public meetings and conducted a townwide survey. Two-thirds (65%) of survey respondents favored continuing with traditional Town Meeting, with a majority (56%) favoring moving the meeting from Tuesday to the preceding Saturday. Voters approved this change at the next annual Town Meeting in March 2023.
